I have been researching the contemporary fascination with the occult, the paranormal, and the supernatural among urban Iranians. My work involves jinn, witches, geomancers, Islamic healing, New Age metaphysics, occult science books, mystics' hagiographies, and Hollywood fantasy and horror.

In the past, I've done a little bit of research into Iranian blogging, but that is now a thing of the past. My more recent interest in the internet is geared toward the circulations of advertisements for magical objects (snake vertebra, occult books, crystals, penis enlargement medicine) as well as exchanges of and discussions about books, spells, talismans, amulets, and stories about extraordinary powers.
