About
I have recently joined the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Lahore, in August 2010, after living abroad in Europe and the United States for six years. Earlier, I was working and studying at Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, where I completed a Master of Theological Studies (focus: Islamic Studies). Before Harvard, at two universities in Austria and Spain, I completed an International Master in Peace, Conflict and Development Studies (focus: Religion/Islam and Peacebuilding). I have been educated and involved in Human Rights Advocacy while working at War Against Rape in Karachi between 1999 and 2002.
My current research interests include Jihad, Sufism, and Islamic Intellectual History with a special focus in the history of Islamic Education. At LUMS, I am teaching courses in or related to Islamic Studies.
