About

LL.M. (summa cum laude) in International Law of Human Rights and Criminal Justice, Utrecht University (The Netherlands); A.B. (cum laude) in History, Harvard University (Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA).  Former Visiting Professional, International Criminal Court, Chambers.

As a Program Associate at the Harvard Program on Humanitarian Policy and Conflict Research (www.hpcrresearch.org), I focus on the Program's international law and policy portfolios, as well as its communication and technology platforms.

I contribute to HPCR's research initiatives and advisory services concerning protection of civilians in armed conflict and other situations of violence, as well as the Program's Live Web Seminar series, its IHL in Action Blog, and its educational endeavors. I research and write about international humanitarian law, international criminal law, and international human rights law, as well as comparative criminal justice systems, for professional and general audiences. I have also helped to conceived, coordinate, and develop Working Groups of senior professionals, and I am principally responsible for recruiting and managing legal interns. Current HPCR projects to which I contribute include a research, policy, and multilateral engagement initiative concerning counterterrorism regulations and humanitarian action, and an advisory services initiative for a major UN implementing body.

My most recent writings are a jointly authored (with Sarah Nouwen) chapter on jurisdictional arrangements and international criminal procedure (which will be published as part of an expert process on international criminal procedure), and a jointly authored (with Naz Modirzadeh and Claude Bruderlein) article on humanitarian engagement under counterterrorism (exploring norm conflicts and the emerging policy landscape), which has been accepted for publication by the International Review of the Red Cross.
