About
Justin Fifield is a Ph.D. candidate in the Study of Religion at Harvard University (GSAS). His field is South Asian Religions, particularly Buddhism in the Middle Period. His research focuses on Sanskrit and Prakrit narrative literature, such as the Mahāvastu and Avadānaśataka.
His dissertation (research in progress) will be a monograph-length study of the Mahāvastu, examining its narrative structure and locating it within a religious and historical context.
Justin obtained a M.A. in Asian Languages and Cultures from the University of Texas at Austin and a B.A. in Religion and Classical Studies from Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
