Kelly Whitney is a doctoral student in the Culture, Communities and Education program at Harvard University, where her studies focus on how families make decisions about the media and technology in their lives. Kelly’s career has been a blend of media production and research. For the past twelve years, she has worked on the development and production of children's media for such companies as Nickelodeon, PBS, and Discovery Kids. She has recently completed work on a research project at MIT under a grant from the MacArthur Foundation Digital Media and Learning Project, and previously worked for Project Zero at Harvard under a grant from the National Science Foundation. Kelly holds a Master's degree in specialized studies in education from Harvard, and earned her Bachelor's degree from Northwestern University School of Communication.
