About
I am a historian of colonial Latin American, Bourbon Spain, and the Atlantic world. I am currently completing a doctorate at Harvard University.
In my dissertation, I examine how the province of Caracas reacted to the emergence of the governments of the Spanish resistance, especially, the Junta of Seville and the Junta Central, following the Napoleonic Invasion of Iberia. This work captures some of the social, political, military, and ideological transformations that preceded the era of Spanish American Independence.
Other research interests include 19th century Latin American history and literature and the American Revolution.
