About

I am trying to understand what the foundations of mathematical thinking are. How much of mathematical thinking is grounded on universal, spontaneous intuitions that are common to all human beings? What part of mathematics consists in cultural inventions, transmitted through generations? I am currently working with American babies and children, and a people from the Amazon, the Mundurukus, and studying both the acquisition of numbers and geometry.
